What AFF is

Ground school, tunnel, training jumps.

AFF (Accelerated Freefall) is the method where you are in freefall from your very first jump, with instructors flying beside you. Ground school and tunnel preparation come first; a debrief follows every jump.

Completed AFF is not yet a licence. The next stage is progression to an A Licence; on the Complete route it is part of the same plan.

Outcomes

The goal is completed AFF. An A Licence is a separate route, and finishing depends on meeting the training requirements.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need a tandem jump before an AFF course?

    SCS does not require a previous tandem jump to consider you for either beginner route. The selected dropzone’s entry requirements are checked before training is confirmed.

  • How old do I need to be, and do I need a medical certificate?

    All SCS routes require you to be 18 or older. Medical, weight and equipment requirements are set by the selected dropzone and are checked before training is confirmed; medical certification is not part of the route.

  • How long does an AFF course take?

    Training days and trip length are different things. Guided AFF normally takes 4–5 active training days; Complete AFF + A Licence normally plans approximately 10 active training and jump days, and AFF itself moves level by level at the pace of your learning, the dropzone schedule and the weather. Arrival, departure and waiting days sit outside those figures, and no route guarantees a completion date.

  • Is wind tunnel training included in the AFF course?

    Yes, within the plan: the SCS AFF model includes the required tunnel preparation, with the amount set by your training plan. Additional tunnel time beyond the agreed plan is separate.

  • Can I learn to skydive in Spain without speaking Spanish?

    Coaching with Andrew is available in English, Russian and Ukrainian: planning, briefings, in-session feedback and debriefs. The selected dropzone, official documents and any examinations keep their own language requirements, which are confirmed before training.
